about

This album came together one night a few weeks before my daughter was born last year. I had overwhelming nostalgia and melancholy while recording, thinking back when I was much younger and how I was engulfed in larger than life stories through video games and strongly written television shows (mostly animated.) While sharing most of this time with my brother and my friends, one of whom did the artwork for this album and Notice The Bugs, it's a time I visit in memory often and even helped form the search for sound and feeling with this project.

I tried my best to remember the subtle details that we're commonplace almost everyday, only to be missing. The smaller components that made up the whole from that point in time. The pictures on the wall, my friends mother who had such a distinct voice, the spread of newspaper with the comics standing out, how an empty parking lot sounded to me, the mundane conversations we had, etc. All missing. The cold empty void that surrounds the warmth of these treasured vignettes, almost trying to devour the entirety of my youth, not unlike the The Langoliers.

With the void creeping into my nostalgic mood, I quickly grabbed my Casio SK-1 and started recording samples of these shows and games that I held dear from that time, as well as some recent productions that ignited these same feelings of the past. I played the loops with the same framework found within Broken Transmission, letting my own nostalgia perpetually die on tape in hopes to keep these fragments vivid for years to come.

These pieces came together in a very personal way, but I hope they can be enjoyable objectively as well. Since the source of this material is not mine, please download this album for free.
